Pianist Imre Rohmann began his studies at the age of four. After graduating from the Béla Bartók Conservatoire, between 1971–77 he was a student at the Ferenc Liszt College of Music where his teachers were Kornél Zempléni, Ferenc Rados, György Kurtág, András Mihály and Albert Simon. In 1980–81 he studied conducting under Karl Österreicher at the Vienna Academy of Music and took part in master courses by Jörg Demus in Austria and Germany. He has been giving concerts since 1974 and has appeared with such leading orchestras as the Dresden Staatskapelle, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra.
As a chamber musician he has played, among others, with Miklós Perényi, Erich Höbarth, Thomas Zehetmair, András Schiff, the Bartók Quartet and chamber musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Currently he is a teacher at the Salzburg Mozarteum. Since 1983 he has regularly held courses at the Bartók Seminar in Szombathely.
