More info

Don’t Cry For me Susan Sontag in Sarajevo is dealing with the famous Susan Sontag’s arrival in besieged Sarajevo in 1993, where she staged the play Waiting for Godot. Extremely simple documentary form, focusing on interviews with thirteen participants and witnesses of the play, this film presents an extremely emotional account of life in Sarajevo under siege, in which the burst of life was ignited by Susan Sontag. Visually based on black and white photos of two prominent photographers of Sarajevo under Siege – Milomir Kovačević and Paul Lowe this film keeps simplicity as the experience worth to be followed even today, more then 20 years after the siege. “Europe is, and always has been, a place of barbarism, a place of civilization, too” is quote of Susan Sontag, who opens the film Don’t cry for me Sarajevo – Susan Sontag in Sarajevo.

The documentary is shown in the original Bosnian language with English subtitles.
